Macassa is is host to many people in the community for many uses besides boating. The club’s free will donation at the Annual Christmas Open House alone usually raises around $1500, which is given to local charities.
During the winter months there are dart games and tournaments going several nights a week. MBYC provides the Knot A Breast – Dragon Boat Team with meeting space and boating facilities. The club provides funds to Keep Hamilton Blooming for planting the beautiful flowerbeds at the entrance to Bayfront Park. MBYC also provides meeting space to The Hamilton Power and Sail Squadron, a volunteer organization dedicated to teaching safe boating.
The club’s volunteers keep our own gardens looking lovely, which also enhances the beauty of the Hamilton Waterfront Trail. During the year there are countless wedding receptions, showers, wakes, dances, concerts, graduations, meetings, and classes going on in the Bill Mitchell Hall.
